Reading to do over Five Days Between Class

1.  Read your assigned chapter from Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential.  In your notebooks, in your own words, summarize what you think the main lesson Bourdain learned about food in this chapter.

• "Food is Good"
• "Food is Bad"
• "Food is Sex"

2. Review Chapter 3, 29-45, in your textbook. You will not be quizzed on this, etc., but the ideas will be integrated into our lessons.

Essay Writing Stage (Rough draft of Intro)

No introduction paragraph is due to myLearning at start of Tuesday's class, as the syllabus schedule states. However, a handwritten draft is to be brought:

• Draft what you think is a good rough draft introduction in your class notebook IN PENCIL. and bring that to class ready to work with. 

• Here are some of the things to think about as you draft (and we will cover answers to these on Tuesday):

• What do you put in your introduction besides the thesis?
• Where does your thesis go?
• How do I start an essay?

• Review your notes on the blog posts covered, especially "General Strategies For Defining A Word/Term," to help you brainstorm your essay's content: subtopics, examples, etc.
