Essay 3 prompt: Write a 500-word cause and effect essay in which your main point (thesis) is to choose an area of focus, such as mental health or mindset, and discuss how social media has both negatively and positively affected society under that larger focused subject matter.


I.  Hook:  - relevant fact or story or quote--> create a theme of words and ideas that focus on area of focus, such as mental health or mindset or whatever you chose.

A.  Thesis (shows up last in paragraph!):

• identifies the biggest point about impact of social media on area of focus
• identifies focus subject matter area of focus

B. Claims (positive or negative, decided by student):

• One large negative impact on area of focus
• A second negative on area of focus
• One positive on area of focus

II. Body Paragraphs:

A.  TS 1:  restates in new language, the "negative impact" on area of focus

• Two reasons:
